Edible Plant Walks

Full Circle Adventures offers Edible plant hikes in Kananaskis country and wild foraging workshops on private lands from Bragg Creek to the Chain Lakes area, south of Calgary. The food forest has new food for different seasons and each plant part is ripe at a different seasons.
There is more to the food forest than Berries and there is food in all of Nature’s seasons! Locations are subject to change based on weather and wildlife notifications.Take a Walk on the wild side of Southern Alberta and bite into Nature!

Wild Edibles of the Foothills

The Prairie – Foothills habitat just west of Calgary is high in plant diversity. It is no surprise that there are also many edible plants in the foothills north to south. Start to learn by smell, texture, leaf pattern and more,…how to identify some of southern Alberta’s best kept secrets, the wild edibles. Each date is to a new location starting from lower elevation and further east to higher trails and further west.

City Wildland parks are protected pockets of indigenous wild plants, some even endangered, that were used for hundreds of years by the First peoples of this land and our early European ancestors. Learn to identify 5 native plants, their uses and the habitat they grow in.

Wild Foraging outings

Join us for a “learn to forage” outing on Private Ranch lands. Our first plant of study is the Stinging Nettle. An amazing food plant full of vitamins and minerals, Nettle has been a European staple for centuries. Learn sustainable practices, how to walk in balance with the landscape and how to safely harvest nettle. A recipe is included in this program.
