Re-Wilding your Garden

Why re-wild your garden?

There are 3 great reasons to add native, edible species to your lawn or garden:

  1. By growing native, edible plant you can harvest fresh food as early as mid-May! Extend your fresh, food season, to start in the Spring!
  2. Once the plants are established, you can water less often, do not require fertilizer, and don't need to fuss over them! Many are drought tolerant and draw up healthy nutrients from the soil. (Adding compost or soil nutrients will be necessary for newly constructed homes.)
  3.  70% of Alberta songbirds feed their young insects in the spring. These same insects rely on our native plants and flowers for their food. If the insects thrive, the songbirds  thrive.

During a two-hour garden consultation and walk-about in your yard, we will look for the habitat that most closely mimics nature’s eco-systems. This way we ensure the best rate of return for your new edible wild plant garden.

We also provide garden design services. If you don't know your wild edible plants, that's ok, we do. We can walk you through a garden design to grow native edible plants in your front or back yard.

Garden Design fee - $40 per hour
